PROCEDURE FOR FINAL PROJECT SEMINAR I
- Students must register for the Final Project I examination (Thesis Seminar I) at the Secretariat of the Actuarial Science Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). This is done by submitting the Thesis Seminar I proposal form, approved by the thesis advisor, and the Final Project I Report in the specified format to the email: aktuariaS1.mipa@ugm.ac.id. Students can propose a schedule for the Thesis Seminar I after discussing it with their Thesis Advisor.
- If the seminar is held in person, it will be arranged by the program’s administration. However, if it’s conducted online, the meeting room will be set up by the Thesis Advisor or the program’s administration.
- The seminar can be attended by Actuarial Science Program students, Thesis Advisors, or other faculty members. Student attendance at the Thesis Seminar I is a prerequisite for registering for the Undergraduate II examination (thesis defense), which requires attending the Thesis Seminar I a minimum of three times (excluding when the student is presenting at the Thesis Seminar I).
- The schedule for the Thesis Seminar I is announced on the Actuarial Science Program’s website.
- The seminar is evaluated by the Thesis Advisor. If the seminar is held in person, the Thesis I Assessment Form is prepared by the program’s administration. If the seminar is conducted online, the Thesis I Assessment Form is sent by the program’s administration to the Thesis Advisor. The Thesis Advisor sends the signed assessment results to the email: aktuariaS1.mipa@ugm.ac.id.
- The program’s administration reminds the Thesis Advisor and students of the schedule for the Thesis Seminar I.
PROCEDURE FOR FINAL PROJECT SEMINAR II
- If a student takes both the Final Project I and Final Project II courses in the same semester, the minimum gap between the Thesis Seminar I and registering for the Final Project II examination is two weeks.
- Students must register for the Final Project II examination (thesis defense) by sending an email to: aktuariaS1.mipa@ugm.ac.id, which must include:
- A thesis defense proposal form approved by all thesis advisors.
- The Final Project II report, which is the final thesis draft in the specified format.
- The Thesis Guidance Card.
- Study Plan Card.
- Transcript of Grades.
- Photos/screenshots of attendance at the Thesis Seminar I a minimum of three times, except for students who are defending their thesis at the beginning.
- The thesis examination committee includes all thesis advisors (if there are advisors from outside the Department of Mathematics) and two examiners based on the thesis topic.
- If the defense is held in person, it will be arranged by the program’s administration. If it is conducted online, the meeting room will be set up by the head of the thesis examination committee (in coordination with the program’s administration).
- The thesis defense is attended by the student being examined, the thesis examination committee, Actuarial Science Program students, and possibly the general public, both in person and online.
- The schedule and location of the thesis examination are announced on the Actuarial Science Program’s website.
- Each examiner provides an evaluation of the student being examined through Google Forms. The head of the thesis examination committee, with the assistance of the program’s administration, conveys the thesis examination results at the end of the thesis defense session.
- The program’s administration reminds the examiners and students of the schedule for the Final Project II examination.
- If the decision of the thesis defense is “pass with revisions,” the deadline for making revisions is two months from the date of the thesis defense. If no revisions are made during this two-month period, the thesis defense is considered canceled, and a new thesis defense must be scheduled.
